Karen Gray
Varsity Head Coach

This is Coach Gray's sixth year as Varsity Head Coach at Mountain Pointe High School.  Prior to being named the Varsity Head Coach, Coach Gray was the Head JV Coach for the 2011 and 2012 season.  In 2016 Coach Gray led the team to the State Semi Finals and was named the Big Schools Coach of the Year by the Arizona Republic. 

Karen began playing volleyball at age 14 and following a successful high school career in Maryland, she earned a full volleyball scholarship to Villanova, a Big East NCAA Division I program. As a 4 year starter at Villanova, Karen held the all-time kills record which stood for more than ten years and won several all-tournament awards as a middle blocker during her collegiate career.  After college, Karen played the middle blocker position for three USAV Open Nationals teams.  She continues to play competitive volleyball.

Coach Gray is also an associate club director and club coach for the past ten years and has coached several of the top club teams in the state.

Andrew Yamashiro
Varsity Assistant Coach

Andrew is starting his third season with the Lady Pride Volleyball Program as the Assistant Varsity Coach. 

Andrew was a four year Varsity player for Hamilton High School and then played on ASU's Men's Club Team from 2010-2011. Andrew coaches boys at Higley High School and both girls and boys at a local volleyball club. 


Scott Schutkowski
Junior varsity head coach

Coach Schutkowski is honored and excited to join the Pride coaching staff as the JV coach. He has coached varsity volleyball at Centennial Middle School for 17 years; many of his players have gone on to excel in the Mountain Pointe program.  He has also been an assistant coach for Aspire Volleyball club for the last eight years, six of which have been with coach Gray. Five of those teams qualified for girls’ volleyball nationals (GJNC) 

Coach Schutkowski has twins who are college seniors, and he and his wife Nicole have a daughter, Sylvia. They all enjoy family time, concerts, and traveling.

He is excited for the JV team to compete this year, and to help grow players for the Mountain Pointe program.


Coach Andrea Fazz

Freshman Head Coach

Coach Fazz is excited to coach her 16th season for the Mountain Pointe High School Freshman Volleyball program.  

Coach Fazz is from Yuma, Arizona where she played four years of volleyball at Cibola High School and later returned to her Alma Mater to coach the freshmen volleyball team for two years.  Coach Fazz graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.  While attending NAU, she kept her skills honed by participating in intramural leagues.  In August 2006, she received her Master's Degree in Administration & Supervision from the University of Phoenix.  

Coach Fazz and her husband, Herman, have one son, Aedan and a daughter, Alexa.  Coach Fazz truly enjoys playing volleyball, but most of all loves coaching and teaching the sports fundamentals to up and coming players.  She believers in hard work, dedication and determination to be a winner and is looking forward to working with another talented group of young lades this season.
